Media Department Chair
Linda Bartrom |
| Dr. B.,
although a Chemistry major, first became interested in Media
when she was working on her doctoral program at Indiana University
in the mid-80s. While going to school 3 days a week, and teaching
2 days a week, she needed another source of income and worked
for an advertising agency in Indianapolis as copywriter, and
eventually wrote full presentations including storyboards for
clients, as well as doing "voiceovers" and TV commercial
appearances. She has produced commercials for First State Bank,
Sara Jay Fashions, and JC Penney among others. She included
electives in the media in her doctoral coursework, including
History of the Movie and Studio Techniques. She believes that
this growing industry (11% of all jobs is the projection) deserves
serious attention at the high school level, to prepare learners
for College Majors in the Movie, Broadcasting and Media Arts
areas. To this end, Dr. B. wrote the first and only UC accredited
Fine Arts Course Description for "Television Production"
in the State of California. As always, Spartans Rule!! |
