| History of the Media Department |
| The Media
Department began eleven years ago, in 1998, when (then) Principal
Fran Roney believed in a dream, an idea, and Dr. B. enough to
say "yes." So we borrowed money from Yearbook, were
given our first camera from PFSO, and became a "Club"
that met at lunch. That year we produced Villa Park High School's
first CD-ROM Yeardisc! For 2 years, we filmed and picked clips,
and editing was done externally because we had no computers!
Thanks to The Spartan Golf Classic, we purchased 3 computers
and by 2001 we were editing in-house while still duplicating
off-site. That same year, John Kirsch and Hunter Norred appeared
on the first VPHS TV Show, "The John and Hunter Show."
We were also producing Varsity Sports Videos, and by 2002, Dance
Videos as well, on CD and VHS, all completely edited as well
as duplicated in-house! In 2003 Dr. B. wrote the present course
description which meets UC Fine Arts Standards, (the only one
in the state), the TV Show continued with "The John and
Nicole Show," and we began exploring the possibility of
producing DVDs. That year we were provided room R-4, by Assistant
Principal Susanne Hopkins, as an editing studio, and we now
produce DVDs for eleven Varsity Sports, our three VP Formal
Dances, a Senior Memories DVD, and a DVD Yeardisc, ... as well
as produce 32 half-hour Television Shows per year! We've come
a long way since '98!! |
